The Local Culture
A vibrant little sidewalk bistro with a big personality.
The Local Culture was born in 2017, in the heart of Greenside, Johannesburg — a vibrant little sidewalk bistro with a big personality. From the very beginning, we were all about celebrating flavour, community, and creativity, blending familiar South African favourites with unexpected twists that honoured the colourful spirit of Jozi.
We weren’t just another café on the block – we were a gathering place. A space where locals met for coffee, conversation, brunch, or a cheeky glass of wine after work. Our food sparked curiosity, and our vibe kept people coming back.
TLC on the Track
An upmarket restaurant serving elegant brunches and sunset cocktails.
In 2019, our journey took an exciting turn. We were invited to bring The Local Culture to the Jaguar Land Rover Experience Centre — a sleek, modern venue nestled above the Jukskei Valley.
This is where TLC on The Track came to life as an upmarket restaurant serving elegant brunches, sunset cocktails, and bespoke menus for high-end driving adventures and corporate functions.
TLC@KEP
Where food, family, and fresh air come together.
By 2023, we had grown again — this time, taking the reins at Kyalami Equestrian Park, home to South Africa’s most prestigious equestrian community.
At TLC@KEP, we’ve created a laid-back, family-friendly restaurant where local flavour meets global comfort. From our legendary buttermilk fried chicken and boerewors pizza to our cranberry-twist bobotie, every dish is a nod to our roots, served with a wink and a smile.
Through every chapter, our mission has stayed the same: To bring people together through food that’s familiar, surprising, and full of heart. To celebrate the rich culture around us — and create a little of our own along the way.
We are The Local Culture.
And we do it all for the love of local.
